In Zenforms, subforms can be created for the existing forms. This article explains how exactly these subforms are added to the existing forms.

To create a subform, simply create a reference to another collection or form. To do this, open the form from within the editor and select "Add new form control". Then click on "References".

Now select a form in the target collection to be used for creating new items.

As soon as this has been selected, you can make further settings.

Here you can see some examples, that show which affect the activation and deactivation of the different switches have. ( grey means no here, green yes)

  • "Allow selection of existing Responses": No
  • "Allow creation of new Responses": Yes
  • "Allow multi selection": Yes
Within the form, a button will appear to open the subform. After the form is filled out, it remains so that other subforms can be filled in as well
  • "Allow selection of existing Responses": Yes
  • "Allow creation of new Responses": No
  • "Allow multi selection": Yes

The button opens a dialog. If multi selection is enabled, the button will remain, so that more answers can be selected. If multi selection is disabled, the button disappears so that only one option can be selected.

Please note that public access requires read permission in order to perform the described steps.

  • "Allow selection of existing Responses": Yes
  • "Allow creation of new Responses": Yes

The button opens a dialog, in which a "+ Create" button can be found. This in turn opens the subform.
